Comenius Meeting in Italy

Arrival in Italy (Sunday)

After we said goodbye to our parents, the bus arrived at the main bus station in Ingolstadt and we went on to the airport in Munich. Some hours later our plane arrived in Bologna. We took a taxi to the train station in Bologna – from there we got to Parma by train, where we were expected by some hosts and their parents.

Welcome (Monday)

In the morning we visited the school in San Giovanni, where the students had prepared a welcome ceremony. We learned some Italian words, met new friends and went to the theatre. There was a beautiful show performed by the students. Then we walked to the castle “Villa Medici di Vascello”, took photos of it and participated in a bakery workshop.

Milan (Tuesday)

On our third day we visited Milan. We had a guided tour through the centre of Milan. The main sights were the “Teatro alla Scala“, “Castello sforzesco“ , “Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.“ and the “Duomo di Milano“. When the tour was finished, we had some free time to walk around the city by ourselves.

Let’s play (Wednesday)

Before we went to the gym in Solarolo, we had another lesson at school. At around 9 o’clock we arrived in Solarolo. We changed our clothes and warmed up in the small, but very nice gym. Afterwards we played traditional games like Bandiera (Flag), La carriola (Wheelbarrow) and Castelli (Castles). After lunch we went to Mantova and had a guided tour there. In the end of the day, we had some delicious Italian ice cream.

Cremona (Thursday)

On Thursday we went to Cremona. We visited the Museo del Violino, where we saw the origin of the violin, many famous musicians and original fiddles of Stradivari, which are very valuable. When we went outside, it started to snow, but notwithstanding we went to the violin workshop. There we could watch how a violin is being built. When it was over, we went back to the coach and visited a nougat workshop. We were able to taste all kinds of yummy sweets before we went home to San Giovanni.

The last day (Friday)

It was Friday and everybody was quite happy to go home, but when we woke up and looked out of the window, we doubted that we could go home, because there was so much snow. Unfortunately the train stations and the airports were (temporary) closed. In the end we decided to go to Bologna by taxi, but we missed our flight and arrived in Bologna in the evening. We had to stay at a hotel that night. Nobody was sad yet, because we had already booked a flight for the next day.

The extra day (Saturday)

Early in the morning, we were all happy, when we had breakfast at the hotel, because our flight would start soon and we would get back to Germany. A taxi took us to the airport. After some time, we arrived in Munich and waited for the Airport Express coach. At around 1 o’clock, we finally arrived in Ingolstadt.
It was a great trip and we had much fun with the students from all the other countries!
